Luke 5:18-20 (NIV)
Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. 19When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
20When Jesus saw their faith, he said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven."
"It's tough to bring a friend to Jesus. It takes time and determination. Someone you know needs your help. And we need to to help them. Even if it makes us late to Church."
Mark Beeson (paraphrased)
These guys where late for Church because they had to carry their friend to Jesus. But because they where determined to help their friend they did something unthinkable, they tore the roof off the house to lowered him to Jesus.
I have to ask myself: How willing am I to tare the roof off for a friend? Is it OK for me to be late? Will I drive across town to give someone a ride?
To be honest I have to say, not always. I get caught up in my own little world and sometimes miss opportunities to bring someone to Jesus. This is an area I need to improve, and now that I recognize this hidden fault I will be more in tuned to to bring a friend to Jesus.
